The City of Oregon is the government seat of Ogle County, located in northern Illinois’ scenic Rock River Valley. The Rock River runs along much of the city’s eastern border, and there are 3 state parks within 15 miles, providing a majestic backdrop that makes Oregon one of the most gorgeous areas in the state. Join the 40,000 people who visit us during our annual “Autumn on Parade,” and you’ll see for yourself just how beautiful this area is!
Oregon is situated at the crossroads of two Illinois highways — Routes 2 and 64 — which intersect in the heart of the downtown commercial district. We also have easy access to two U.S. interstates — I-39 and I- 88 (the Chicago--Quad Cities Expressway). Being so centrally located means we can reach Rockford in 30 minutes, and the Quad Cities and Chicago in 90 minutes, all of which connect us to the vital economic engines in the state. We are part of the Rochelle micropolitan statistical area, which is part of the larger Rochelle-Freeport-Rockford combined statistical area. There are nearly half a million people within a 30-mile radius of Oregon, and nearly 2 million people within 60 miles.
The city boasts quick access to both interstate and rail, allowing a competitive advantage while providing a high quality of life for our residents and visitors. Due to a strong relationship with the Exelon energy site, Oregon benefits from generous tax benefits that allow for a much higher standard of living than comparable cities. Our extensive park system and excellent schools help make Oregon a great place to live, work, and play, while our strong Chamber of Commerce makes the city a great place to grow your business.
City officials are more invigorated than ever about attracting new businesses and development projects, and growing Oregon in a responsible fashion. We’re capitalizing on tremendous momentum and are eager to share some truly exciting development opportunities available for commercial, industrial, and residential interests. We can’t wait to partner with you on bringing your next business venture to Oregon!
